Ingredients

  • 1 package of Sweet Hawaiian Rolls 12 rolls
  • 3/4 cup eggnog
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon light brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Pinch of nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • Powdered sugar
  • Maple syrup
  • Whipped cream optional

Instructions

  • In a bowl, prepare the custard for dipping by combining eggnog, eggs, brown sugar, vanilla extract, nutmeg, and cinnamon. Whisk until smooth and well mixed.
  • Heat a large pan over medium-low to medium heat. Add a bit of butter. Ensure the pan isn’t too hot to prevent burning.
  • Quickly dip each Hawaiian Roll into the custard and place it on the pan. Repeat with a few more rolls until the pan is filled but not overcrowded.
  • Cook for about 2 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy. Remove from the pan and repeat with the remaining rolls.
  • Sprinkle powdered sugar over the rolls and drizzle with maple syrup. For an extra touch, serve with berries and whipped cream!

Notes

  • To allow the custard to soak deeper, you can use a toothpick or skewer to make holes in the rolls before dunking them.
  • If you plan to let the rolls soak overnight, you can lay them out on a wire rack to dry before soaking them in custard for deeper flavor absorption.
