Ingredients

  • 4 small very ripe bananas or 3 medium-sized ones
  • 1/2 cup of melted unsalted butter
  • 1 cup of granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs at room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup of sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon of baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon of kosher salt
  • 1 cup of all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup of mini chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Peel those ripe bananas and toss them into a large mixing bowl. Mash them up until they’re wonderfully creamy.
  • In another bowl, combine the melted butter and granulated sugar. Whisk them together. Then, add the eggs and vanilla to the mix, whisking everything until it’s well combined.
  • Now, add salt, sour cream, mashed bananas, and baking soda to the mix. Give it a good stir to combine everything.
  • Time to sift in the flour and cocoa powder. Add this to the batter and beat until it just comes together. Be careful not to overmix.
  • To make it even more delightful, fold in those chocolate chips.
  • Pour the batter into a 9×5 loaf pan, and if you’re feeling extra indulgent, sprinkle some more chocolate chips on top (totally optional but highly recommended).
  • Bake for 55-60 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a cooling rack.
