Eggnog Hawaiian Roll French Toast
Servings 12
Ingredients
- 1 package of Sweet Hawaiian Rolls 12 rolls
- 3/4 cup eggnog
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tablespoon light brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- Pinch of nutmeg
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- Powdered sugar
- Maple syrup
- Whipped cream optional
Instructions
- In a bowl, prepare the custard for dipping by combining eggnog, eggs, brown sugar, vanilla extract, nutmeg, and cinnamon. Whisk until smooth and well mixed.
- Heat a large pan over medium-low to medium heat. Add a bit of butter. Ensure the pan isn’t too hot to prevent burning.
- Quickly dip each Hawaiian Roll into the custard and place it on the pan. Repeat with a few more rolls until the pan is filled but not overcrowded.
- Cook for about 2 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy. Remove from the pan and repeat with the remaining rolls.
- Sprinkle powdered sugar over the rolls and drizzle with maple syrup. For an extra touch, serve with berries and whipped cream!
Notes
- To allow the custard to soak deeper, you can use a toothpick or skewer to make holes in the rolls before dunking them.
- If you plan to let the rolls soak overnight, you can lay them out on a wire rack to dry before soaking them in custard for deeper flavor absorption.
