**For the Simple Syrup:**

  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup water
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice

**For the Easy Baklava Recipe:**

  • 1 pound Athens phyllo dough
  • 2 1/2 cups walnuts
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 9 ounces clarified butter ghee, melted


  • Preheat your oven to 350°F and position a rack in the center.
  • Boil a sweet concoction for the simple syrup by dissolving 1 ½ cups of sugar in ¾ cup of water. Add a teaspoon of lemon juice, and let it cool completely.
  • Slice the phyllo dough in half lengthwise, then cut into 1-inch sections. Arrange them in a single layer at the bottom of a baking dish.
  • In a food processor, blend walnuts and sugar until finely ground. Sprinkle a layer over the phyllo dough.
  • Repeat the process, adding more layers of phyllo dough and the nut mixture. Top it off with the remaining phyllo.
  • Make 5 vertical cuts followed by 8 diagonal slices on top of the dough.
  • Pour melted ghee over the dish, ensuring it seeps into the slits.
  • Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown – be cautious not to burn!
  • Once out of the oven, pour the cooled simple syrup over the Baklava. Indulge in the deliciousness right away!
