Let’s make an easy and delicious Crinkle Baklava on this episode of Egyptian Eats! This recipe is a breeze compared to the traditional one, and it’s just as tasty!

Crinkle Phyllo Dough

  • 8 oz phyllo dough
  • 1 stick of butter melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup sugar
  • Optional Toppings: pistachios strawberries


  • Follow the package instructions to defrost the phyllo dough.
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  • Take two pieces of phyllo at a time, layer them, and crinkle them accordion-style from top to bottom. Lay the folded dough in an ungreased baking pan, starting at the short side. Repeat until the pan is full.
  • Bake at 350°F for 10 minutes.
  • While baking, melt the butter in the microwave or on the stove.
  • Remove the pan from the oven, drizzle the melted butter evenly over the dough, and bake for an additional 10 minutes.
  • In the meantime, whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and sugar until smooth.
  • Once again, remove the pan from the oven and evenly pour the egg mixture over the dough.
  • Bake for 30-40 minutes or until the phyllo dough turns golden brown and becomes flaky to the touch.
  • If desired, top with pistachios and strawberries. Enjoy your delicious Crinkle Baklava!
