Hot Honey:

  • 2 teaspoons red pepper flakes or 6 Thai chiles minced with seeds
  • 1/2 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 garlic clove sliced

Chicken Poppers:

  • 1.5 lbs. boneless skinless chicken breast
  • 4 cups corn flakes
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour or 1:1 gluten-free
  • 2.5 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 2.5 teaspoons coarse salt
  • 1 teaspoon cracked black pepper
  • 1.5 teaspoons ground mustard
  • 1.5 teaspoons paprika
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 3-4 tablespoons avocado oil or olive oil

Instructions

  • Prepare the hot honey sauce by heating honey, red pepper flakes or chiles, apple cider vinegar, and garlic in a saucepan until gently boiling. Transfer to a jar and let it cool.
  • Preheat the air fryer to 370-375ºF.
  • Slice chicken into 1.5-2-inch pieces.
  • In a food processor, pulse corn flakes, flour, and spices until breadcrumb consistency.
  • Whisk eggs and water in a bowl. Dredge chicken in egg mixture, then cornflake mixture, repeating for a double coat.
  • Spray air fryer basket, arrange chicken, drizzle with oil, and air fry for 8 minutes, flipping halfway.
  • Toss cooked chicken in hot honey sauce, adding more if desired.
  • Serve alone or with your favorite sides.

Notes

  • Double dredging ensures extra crispy chicken.
  • Adjust egg mixture or cornflake mixture as needed.
  • Chicken size affects cooking time.
  • Monitor air fryer temperature closely.
  • Oil is crucial for frying in the air fryer.
