Description
This Honey Pineapple Glazed Salmon recipe combines tender salmon with a glossy tropical glaze made from honey, pineapple, lime, soy sauce, garlic, and ginger. It cooks quickly and delivers a sweet-savory finish that feels fresh, colorful, and restaurant-worthy.
Ingredients
For the salmon
- 4 salmon fillets, about 5 ounces each
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
For the honey pineapple glaze
- 1/2 cup pineapple chunks, fresh or canned and drained
- 3 tablespoons honey
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon grated ginger
- 1 teaspoon sriracha, optional
For garnish
- Fresh chopped cilantro, optional
- Lime wedges, for serving
Instructions
- Season the fish.
Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Season both sides with salt and black pepper. Let them sit while you make the glaze so the seasoning has time to settle in. - Build the glaze.
Place the pineapple chunks, honey, soy sauce, lime juice, minced garlic, grated ginger, and optional sriracha into a small saucepan. Stir everything together until the mixture looks evenly combined. - Cook the glaze until it thickens slightly.
Set the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer. Cook for about 5 to 7 minutes, stirring now and then. The pineapple should soften, and the sauce should thicken a little as the honey cooks down and caramelizes. Turn off the heat once the glaze looks glossy and aromatic. - Heat the skillet.
Pour the olive oil into a large skillet and warm it over medium-high heat. Let the pan get hot enough that the salmon sizzles when it hits the surface. - Sear the salmon.
Add the salmon fillets to the skillet, placing them skin-side down if they have skin. Cook them for 4 to 5 minutes without moving them much. This helps them develop color and hold together. - Turn and glaze.
Carefully flip each fillet. Spoon or brush a generous layer of the pineapple glaze over the top. Cook for another 3 to 4 minutes, spooning more glaze over the fish as it finishes. Keep cooking until the salmon flakes easily and looks opaque in the center. - Finish the plate.
Transfer the salmon to serving plates. Spoon any remaining glaze and pineapple pieces over the top. Sprinkle with chopped cilantro if you like, and add lime wedges on the side for a fresh squeeze right before eating.
Notes
- Oven option
For baking, place the salmon on a foil-lined baking sheet, spoon the glaze over the top, and bake at 400°F (200°C) for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily.
- Notes
You can blend the glaze after cooking if you prefer a smoother sauce. Serve Honey Pineapple Glazed Salmon with coconut rice, quinoa, or a crisp salad. If you want a different fruit profile, try mango or peach in place of pineapple.
