Extra Crispy Halloumi Nuggets

  • 16 ounces halloumi cheese
  • Vegetable oil for frying

For the flour coating:

  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • Pinch of black pepper

For the egg coating:

  • 2 eggs
  • Pinch of salt
  • Pinch of black pepper

For the Panko coating:

  • 1 cup Panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • Pinch of black pepper
  1. In a small bowl, mix together flour, paprika, dried parsley, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
  2. In another bowl, whisk together eggs with a pinch of salt and black pepper.
  3. In a third bowl, combine Panko breadcrumbs, paprika, dried parsley, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
  4. Place the halloumi cheese blocks on a cutting board and slice them into small squares or rectangles.
  5. Dip each piece into the flour mixture, then into the egg mixture, and finally into the Panko breadcrumb mixture, ensuring they’re evenly coated.
  6. Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan to 350°F.
  7. Fry the nuggets until they turn golden brown all around, which should only take a few minutes.
  8. Remove the nuggets from the oil and place them on a plate lined with a paper towel to absorb any excess oil.
  9. Serve these cheesy delights with marinara sauce or honey for a deliciously sweet and salty combination.
