I’m thrilled to share this recipe, a delightful combination of my favorite elements from various recipes. It’s a heavenly treat with a devilish twist, and I can’t wait to spill the secrets! 🤤

For a crowd-pleasing treat, whip up a double-layered 6-inch chocolate cake with these simple ingredients:

Ingredients

**Cake Ingredients:**

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup Ovaltine milk powder
  • 1 teaspoon instant coffee
  • 1/4 cup boiling water
  • 1/4 cup sour cream

**Ganache Ingredients (for a rich cake):**

  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 4 oz milk chocolate or any chocolate of your choice

**Chocolate Cream Cheese Frosting (for a lighter cake):**

  • 1/4 cup 4 tablespoons unsalted butter at room temperature
  • 4 oz cream cheese at room temperature
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F and prep 2 6-inch cake pans with parchment paper and a touch of butter or spray.
  • In a big bowl, whisk together all the dry ingredients.
  • Add the egg and oil. Mix the milk with Ovaltine in a cup, then add it to the cake mixture. Whisk gently to combine.
  • Fold in the sour cream.
  • In another cup, mix boiling water with instant coffee, then whisk it into the cake mixture.
  • Divide the batter into the 6-inch pans and bake for around 30 minutes. Keep an eye on it, as baking times may vary.
  • For the ganache, chop the chocolate into a bowl. Heat the cream until it starts to boil, then pour it over the chocolate and gently mix after 3-5 minutes.
  • For the cream cheese frosting, combine all ingredients in a bowl and use a hand mixer to beat until light and creamy.
