Copycat Cava Pita Chips
Servings 6
Ingredients
- 4 pitas cut into triangles
- Vegetable oil for frying
Spice Mix:
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon lemon pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
Instructions
- Mix Italian seasoning, salt, lemon pepper, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder in a small bowl. Set aside.
- Cut each pita into 8 triangles.
- Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan to 325-350°F.
- Fry the pita in batches, ensuring they’re not overcrowded.
- Once golden and crispy, remove chips from the oil and let them drain on a wire rack. Fry them just enough so they’re soft inside but crispy outside, like Cava’s.
- Transfer fried pita chips to a bowl and add seasoning to taste.
- Toss chips around to evenly coat them.
- Serve with hummus or your favorite dip!
Notes
- Use the thickest pita you can find, preferably the brand Cava uses, like Damascus Bakeries.
- Alternatively, you can use Papa Pita brand, available at most major supermarkets.
