Let’s whip up a classic New York sandwich, the famous chopped cheese! Picture this: a cheeseburger all diced up in a sub, stuffed with crisp veggies, and topped with a drizzle of ketchup and mayo. Trust me, it’s worth a taste!

Chopped Cheese

Ground Beef:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon adobo seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon coriander
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • dash of cayenne (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 green or red bell pepper (chopped)
  • 4 slices of American cheese

**For Assembly:**

  • 2 rolls or sub bread (toasted)
  • shredded lettuce
  • sliced tomatoes
  • thinly sliced avocados
  • cooked beef bacon (optional)
  • ketchup
  • mayonnaise
  1. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat, then add the olive oil and butter.
  2. Toss in the onions, peppers, and garlic. Cook for 3 to 4 minutes until they soften.
  3. Add the ground beef and season with adobo, coriander, smoked paprika, cayenne, black pepper, and salt. Mix well.
  4. Let the ground beef cook for 5 to 6 minutes, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon as it browns.
  5. Reduce the heat to low. Divide the meat into two to four sections, depending on how big you want your sandwiches. Place 1 to 2 slices of cheese on top of each section. Cover and let the cheese melt for about a minute or two.
  6. On toasted bread, layer avocado, lettuce, tomato, meat & cheese, ketchup, mayo, and optional bacon.
  7. Close the sandwich and enjoy it while it’s warm.
