Chocolate-Covered Strawberry Turkeys

Posted on

Who needs plain pumpkin pie when you can have these adorable Thanksgiving turkeys? They’re so cute, they’ll have you melting like chocolate! Made famous on TikTok, these chocolate-dipped strawberries are shaped like plump roasted birds (maybe a little crispy, but we love them that way 😉), thanks to a clever combo of marshmallows, pretzel rods, and melted chocolate.

Here’s how to make them: For the legs, skewer two mini marshmallows onto half a pretzel rod, then trim the edges with kitchen shears to make them oval-shaped. Repeat for the other leg, and cut one mini marshmallow diagonally in half to make the wings. Stick these onto the strawberry with a bit of melted chocolate (your edible glue), then let them set. Finally, give them a dip in melted chocolate. For all the details, check out the recipe below.

Serve these chocolate-strawberry turkeys alongside a platter of pumpkin pie turkeys for the most adorable Thanksgiving dessert table ever!

Chocolate-Covered Strawberry Turkeys

Course Dessert
Prep Time 5 minutes
Total Time 30 minutes
Servings 16

Ingredients

  • 1 quart large strawberries washed and dried
  • 16 mini pretzel rods
  • 1 cup mini marshmallows
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips melted

Instructions

  • Line a baking sheet with foil or parchment paper; set aside. Twist the leaves of a strawberry to move them out of the way, then spear the end with a fork or toothpick for easy dipping.
  • Let’s make the legs: Break a pretzel rod in half and spear two marshmallows with one half. Use kitchen shears to trim the ends of the marshmallows into oval shapes. Repeat with the other pretzel half and two more marshmallows. Dab with chocolate and attach to the opposite sides of the pointy end of the strawberry.
  • Now, let’s make the wings: Cut one marshmallow in half diagonally with kitchen shears. Dab the cut sides with chocolate and stick them to the sides of the strawberry near the top. Let them sit until hardened, about 5 minutes.
  • Using a fork or toothpick, dip the whole strawberry into more melted chocolate, letting the excess drip off. Arrange on the prepared sheet.
  • Repeat with the remaining strawberries, pretzel rods, and marshmallows. Freeze until firm, about 10 minutes.
