Description

This Cherry Cheesecake Puppy Chow recipe turns crisp Chex cereal into a sweet cherry cheesecake snack mix with white chocolate, tangy gelatin, creamy pudding mix, and chewy dried cherries.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 9 cups Chex cereal, rice or corn style
  • 1 cup white chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup cherry gelatin mix
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 package instant cheesecake pudding mix, 3.5 ounces
  • 1 cup dried cherries, chopped

Instructions

  1. Place the Chex cereal in a large mixing bowl and set it aside so it is ready for coating.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the white chocolate chips and butter. Microwave for 30 seconds, then stir. Continue heating in short 15-second bursts, stirring after each interval, until the mixture melts into a smooth, even sauce.
  3. Stir the cherry gelatin mix into the melted white chocolate mixture. Keep mixing until the color looks uniform and the cherry flavor is fully blended in.
  4. Pour the cherry-chocolate mixture over the cereal. Use a rubber spatula or large spoon to fold everything together gently so the cereal gets coated without breaking apart.
  5. In a large zip-top bag, add the powdered sugar and the instant cheesecake pudding mix. Shake the bag a little to combine the dry ingredients before adding the cereal.
  6. Transfer the coated cereal into the bag, seal it tightly, and shake until the pieces are evenly dusted and fully covered in the sugar mixture.
  7. Spread the coated cereal out on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Let it sit until it is completely cool and the coating has set.
  8. Once the mix has cooled, stir in the chopped dried cherries.
  9. Serve the Cherry Cheesecake Puppy Chow right away, or store it in an airtight container to keep it crisp.
