Apple Cinnamon Sugar Baked Donuts

These donuts are super easy to whip up, and they’ll make you feel like it’s fall! Even though there’s no apple or apple cider in them, the magic of apple pie spice brings out those cozy flavors. This recipe is sure to become a regular favorite!

Apple Cinnamon Sugar Baked Donuts

Ingredients
  

#### For the donuts:

  • 4 tbsp melted salted butter
  • ¾ cup light brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • cup sour cream at room temperature
  • 1 egg at room temperature
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 ½ tsp baking powder
  • ¾ tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ½ tsp apple pie spice
  • ½ tsp salt
  • cup whole milk at room temperature

#### For the topping:

  • ½ cup melted salted butter at room temperature
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 ½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¾ tsp apple pie spice

Instructions
 

#### For the donuts:

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F and spray donut pans with nonstick spray.
  • In a big bowl, whisk together melted butter, both granulated and light brown sugar, vanilla extract, sour cream, and egg.
  • Once mixed, add all the dry ingredients and whisk until just combined. Pour in the milk and whisk until smooth.
  • Fill a large piping bag with the batter or use a spoon to scoop it into each pan, filling each donut ⅔ of the way.
  • Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown and cooked through. Let them cool for 5 minutes before transferring to a cookie rack to cool completely.

#### For the topping:

  • Add melted butter to a medium-sized bowl.
  • In another medium-sized bowl, mix together sugar, cinnamon, and apple pie spice.
  • Dunk both sides of each donut into the butter (or use a pastry brush), then dip and cover the entire donut in the sugar mixture.
