Check out this amazing apple dessert inspired by the viral thousand-layer potato trend! Picture layers of honeycrisp apple slices coated in a delicious brown sugar cinnamon butter mixture – it’s absolutely mouthwatering!

Imagine biting into soft apple layers, each one offering a delightful texture. It’s a bit like a mille crepe cake, but with a custardy twist, and the tartness of the apple really stands out.

For an extra treat, serve it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and drizzle some caramel sauce over the top!

To make this delightful dessert, here’s what you’ll need:

Thousand Layer Apple

  • 1 large honeycrisp apple
  • 3-4 tbsp melted butter
  • 1 tbsp dark brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Puff pastry
  1. Peel and core the apple, then slice it into 1/16” slices using a knife or mandoline (check out the one we used on our Amazon page).
  2. Mix melted butter, sugar, and cinnamon in a bowl. Coat each apple slice with this mixture and stack them in a ramekin. Press down on the layers while stacking and pour out any excess liquid.
  3. Bake in a 400˚F oven for 10 minutes. Afterward, pour out excess liquid, and top the stack with a piece of puff pastry brushed with egg wash. Bake for an additional 20 minutes.
  4. For the best results, let it cool completely before serving. Use a butter knife to loosen the stack from the ramekin, then serve it upside down with a generous scoop of ice cream.
