The Best Garlic Bread
Ingredients
- 1 loaf 16 oz French bread
- 1 cup unsalted butter at room temperature
- 1/4 cup finely chopped parsley
- 2 1/2 tablespoons minced garlic
- 1/3 cup grated parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon salt or to taste
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- optional: shredded mozzarella
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to broil or 500°F.
- Cut the French bread loaf in half horizontally. Then, cut each half into two pieces vertically, so you end up with 4 pieces in total.
- In a small bowl, mix together the butter, parsley, minced garlic, parmesan cheese, salt, black pepper, and dried oregano.
- Generously spread the butter mixture over each piece of bread. If desired, add shredded mozzarella on top.
- Place the bread pieces on a baking tray and place them in the oven.
- Broil the bread for a few minutes, approximately 3 to 6 minutes. Keep a close eye on it to prevent burning, as it can happen quickly under the broiler. Once the top turns golden brown and the cheese is bubbly, remove the bread from the oven.
- Slice the bread diagonally or across into smaller pieces, and it’s ready to serve.
Notes
For extra crispy garlic bread, bake it at 350°F until golden (about 10 minutes), then add cheese on top and broil until the cheese bubbles.
