Ingredients

  • 1 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 to 3/4 teaspoon salt to taste
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • Pinch of cayenne powder
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 2/3 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese shredded

**Garlic & Herb Butter:**

  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter melted
  • 1/2 tablespoon fresh parsley finely chopped
  • 1 to 2 teaspoons minced garlic to taste
  • Pinch of black pepper to taste
  • Pinch of salt to taste
  • 2 teaspoons grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 450°F.
  • In a small bowl, prepare the garlic and herb butter by mixing melted butter, parsley, minced garlic, black pepper, salt, and grated Parmesan. Set it aside for later use after baking the biscuits.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, garlic powder, dried oregano, dried parsley, and a pinch of cayenne. Give it a good whisk.
  • To the dry mixture, add the melted unsalted butter and buttermilk. Stir together using a rubber spatula or spoon.
  • Add the shredded cheddar cheese to the mixture and give it one final mix. The dough should be moist but able to hold its shape well.
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Use a large scoop or a 1/4 cup measuring cup to portion out large amounts of dough onto the baking sheet, ensuring they are spaced apart. You might need to bake them in two batches.
  • Bake for about 12 minutes or until the biscuits turn golden on top and are fully cooked through.
  • If the garlic and herb butter solidified, warm it up for a few seconds and brush it on top of all the biscuits.
  • Enjoy them while they’re warm and irresistible!
