Homemade Pita Chips Recipe
Servings 4
Ingredients
- 4 6-8 inch pita bread rounds
- 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika or smoked paprika for a smokier flavor
- 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Lay out the pita bread rounds on a clean surface.
- Cut each pita round into wedges or triangles, choosing the size you prefer. Smaller pieces get crispier, while larger ones are a bit chewier. Aim for even sizes for consistent baking.
- Season the Chips: In a bowl, mix the olive oil, oregano, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper until well combined.
- Place the pita chips in a large mixing bowl. Drizzle the seasoned olive oil mixture over them and gently toss to coat each chip evenly.
- Spread the seasoned pita chips in a single layer on baking sheets. Use multiple sheets or bake in batches if needed.
- Place the baking sheets in the preheated oven and bake for about 10-12 minutes until the chips turn golden brown and crispy. Flip them halfway through.
- Note: Keep an eye on them as they can go from crisp to overdone quickly.
- Once done, remove the pita chips from the oven and let them cool completely. They’ll continue to crisp up as they cool.
- Once cooled, serve your homemade pita chips with your favorite dips like hummus, tzatziki, salsa, or any dip you prefer. Enjoy!
