Let’s talk about my Deconstructed Apple Pie. Some might disagree, but to me, it’s got all the vibes of a pie, just without the traditional shape. But hey, call it what you like, the important thing is to give it a try because it’s absolutely delicious!
Here’s what you’ll need:
Deconstructed Apple Pie
Ingredients
- 4 large apples peeled and sliced
- 1 cup gluten-free baking flour or regular all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup plus 1 tablespoon coconut sugar
- 4 tablespoons vegan butter or regular butter, melted
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F. Grease a 9-inch pie dish or baking dish generously. Set it aside.
- Peel the apples and slice them into pieces about 1/2 inch thick. It’s okay if they’re chunky!
- Place the sliced apples in the prepared dish. Sprinkle 1 tablespoon of coconut sugar and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon over the apples.
- In a medium bowl, combine the flour, remaining coconut sugar, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Mix well, then add the egg and chopped pecans. Stir until everything is well combined.
- Spoon the batter evenly over the apples, using your hands to make it level.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the crust turns golden brown.
- Once done, take it out of the oven, let it cool for a bit, then dig in and enjoy your tasty deconstructed apple pie!
