Chopped Italian Hoagie Sliders

*For the dressing:*

  • 1/3 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 cup red wine vinegar
  • 2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt

*For the sliders:*

  • 12 slider buns
  • 6 slices provolone cheese
  • 12 slices ham
  • 12 slices salami
  • 12 slices pepperoni
  • 1/4 cup thinly sliced red onion
  • Sliced hot peppers (as many or as few as you like! Sweet, banana, or pepperoncinis work too!)
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce

*For the topping:*

  • 1/4 cup melted salted butter
  • 2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder


Instructions

*For the dressing:*

  1. Whisk together all the dressing ingredients in a medium bowl. Set it aside for later.

*For the topping:*

  1. Whisk together all the topping ingredients in another medium bowl. Set it aside for later.

*For the sliders:*

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Slice the slider buns in half and place the bottom halves in a baking dish.
  3. Layer on the provolone cheese, then roughly chop the ham, salami, and pepperoni. Spread them on top of the cheese.
  4. Sprinkle with hot peppers and red onions, and cover with the slider bun tops.
  5. Combine all the topping ingredients and spread the mixture over the tops of the slider sandwiches.
  6. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until the cheese is melted, and the tops are golden brown.
  7. Once done, remove the tops, add shredded lettuce and dressing. Put the tops back on, and voila! Enjoy your delicious sliders!
