Description
Bright, fizzy, and unexpectedly refreshing, this Cherry Coke Margarita blends mashed cherries, zesty lime, amaretto, and tequila, then finishes with a splash of cola. Simple to make and fun to sip — cheers!
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 dark cherries (fresh or frozen and thawed)
- ½ oz fresh lime juice
- ½ oz amaretto liqueur
- 1½ oz blanco tequila
- Chilled cola of your choice (Coke Zero or Diet Coke recommended)
- Ice
Instructions
-
Put the cherries and lime juice into a cocktail shaker. Use a muddler (or the back of a spoon) to crush the cherries until they release their juice and break down.
-
Add the amaretto, tequila, and plenty of ice to the shaker. Cap it and shake vigorously for about 20–30 seconds until well chilled.
-
Strain the mixture over a glass filled with fresh ice.
-
Top off with chilled cola to taste, give it a gentle stir, and serve immediately.
Notes
- Mocktail option
- Swap the amaretto for Torani amaretto syrup and omit (or replace) the tequila with a zero-proof spirit or extra soda. Using Diet Coke or Coke Zero works well here because the syrup supplies sweetness.
- Quick tip
- For extra convenience, muddle a larger batch of cherries and lime ahead of time and store it in the fridge; mix with spirits and soda when guests arrive.
