Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 sheets of frozen puff pastry (thawed)
  • 8 ounces of lite or regular cream cheese
  • 1/3 cup cane sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 egg yolk
  • Egg wash
  • 1 cup diced strawberries

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, mix softened cream cheese, egg yolk, sugar, and vanilla until well combined.
  3. Roll out the thawed puff pastry and cut out heart shapes with a cookie cutter.
  4. Use a knife to score around the edges of each heart.
  5. Place the hearts on the baking sheet and fill each one with the cream cheese filling, then top with diced strawberries.
  6. Brush the edges with egg wash and bake for 23-25 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Dust with powdered sugar if desired and enjoy warm or at room temperature.

Notes

  • Soften cream cheese for easier mixing.
  • You can mix the filling by hand if you don’t have an electric mixer.
  • Customize with your favorite fruits.
  • Use leftover pastry to make more hearts or cute cutouts.
  • Score the hearts before baking to keep the filling in place.
  • Add a sprinkle of powdered sugar after baking for extra sweetness.
