- 1 pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
- 1/2 lb. ground Italian sausage (uncooked)
- 4 cloves garlic (thinly sliced)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil (plus extra for drizzling)
- 1 cup pizza sauce
- 1.5 – 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 4–5 fresh basil leaves (roughly chopped)
Instructions
(Grill Method)
- Preheat the grill to 450°F and place a 12-inch cast iron skillet on direct heat.
- Roll out the pizza dough to fit the skillet.
- Cook the Italian sausage in the skillet, then add garlic slices.
- Drizzle olive oil over the dough and cook until golden.
- Move skillet to indirect heat and assemble pizza.
- Cover and cook for 20-30 minutes until dough is cooked through.
- Let it rest, then top with fresh basil.
(Oven Method)
- Preheat the oven to 450°F.
- Roll out the pizza dough and cook the Italian sausage and garlic in a cast iron skillet.
- Drizzle olive oil over the dough and cook until golden.
- Assemble pizza and bake for around 10-15 minutes until crust is golden.
- Let it rest, then top with fresh basil.
Notes
- Monitor heat to avoid burning.
- Feel free to use your favorite pizza toppings!
- Store-bought dough works great too.
