Cast Iron Pizza (Oven + Grill)

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1/2 lb. ground Italian sausage (uncooked)
  • 4 cloves garlic (thinly sliced)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (plus extra for drizzling)
  • 1 cup pizza sauce
  • 1.5 – 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 45 fresh basil leaves (roughly chopped)


Instructions

(Grill Method)

  1. Preheat the grill to 450°F and place a 12-inch cast iron skillet on direct heat.
  2. Roll out the pizza dough to fit the skillet.
  3. Cook the Italian sausage in the skillet, then add garlic slices.
  4. Drizzle olive oil over the dough and cook until golden.
  5. Move skillet to indirect heat and assemble pizza.
  6. Cover and cook for 20-30 minutes until dough is cooked through.
  7. Let it rest, then top with fresh basil.

(Oven Method)

  1. Preheat the oven to 450°F.
  2. Roll out the pizza dough and cook the Italian sausage and garlic in a cast iron skillet.
  3. Drizzle olive oil over the dough and cook until golden.
  4. Assemble pizza and bake for around 10-15 minutes until crust is golden.
  5. Let it rest, then top with fresh basil.

Notes

  • Monitor heat to avoid burning.
  • Feel free to use your favorite pizza toppings!
  • Store-bought dough works great too.
