My favorite way to enjoy these skewers is with steamed jasmine rice and veggies like broccoli. If you’re feeling a bit fancy, you can pair them with coconut rice too! I also love adding a fresh salad on the side. This salad is loaded with cabbage, carrots, butter lettuce, cucumber, green onions, cilantro, sesame seeds, and crispy wonton strips, all dressed up in a sweet and spicy peanut dressing. However you decide to serve them, these bang bang chicken skewers are so delicious, they might just become your new favorite dinner!

Ingredients

  • 1 pound boneless skinless chicken thighs
  • 3 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon garlic paste
  • 2 teaspoons ginger paste
  • 1/2 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 3/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup sweet chili sauce
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sriracha or more to taste
  • 1/2 tablespoon fresh parsley finely chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes optional, for extra spice

Instructions

  • Preheat your air fryer or oven to 450°F.
  • In a small bowl, mix together the ingredients for the bang bang sauce until smooth. Set it aside.
  • In a separate bowl, combine the chicken with soy sauce, olive oil, oyster sauce, garlic, ginger, chili powder, smoked paprika, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and brown sugar. Mix well and let it marinate for 30 minutes if you have time.
  • After marinating, thread the chicken onto skewers. If you’re using wooden skewers, make sure to soak them in water for 30 minutes first to prevent burning.
  • Place the skewers in the air fryer and cook for 13 to 15 minutes, until they’re fully cooked and nicely charred.
  • Drizzle the bang bang sauce over the skewers and sprinkle with chopped green onions before serving. Enjoy!
