Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 loaf of sliced brioche bread
  • 6 eggs
  • 2 cups of whole milk
  • 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons of cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon of kosher salt
  • 3/4 cup of granulated sugar
  • 4 tablespoons of unsalted butter (at room temperature)
  • 1/4 cup of light brown sugar (divided)

Instructions

  1. In a big mixing bowl, combine eggs, milk, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, and salt. Give it a good whisk until everything is mixed together.
  2. Take a slice of brioche bread and spread just under a tablespoon of butter on top. Sprinkle a couple of teaspoons of brown sugar over it, enough to cover the slice. Repeat this with the rest of the bread slices. Arrange them in a round baking dish.
  3. Pour the egg mixture over the bread slices.
  4. Cover the dish and let it chill in the refrigerator for 2-3 hours or overnight.
  5. Bake it at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 35-40 minutes or until the top turns a beautiful golden brown.
  6. Once out of the oven, sprinkle some powdered sugar on top and/or drizzle with maple syrup.
