Ingredients
Scale
Pickles:
- 1 cup pickle slices
- 2 large eggs
- 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon hot sauce (Tabasco or favorite brand)
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
Dipping Sauce:
- ¼ cup sour cream
- ¼ cup mayonnaise
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ¼ cup finely minced onion
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 1 teaspoon dried dill (optional)
Instructions
- Prep the Pickles
- Pat the pickle slices dry using paper towels. Layer them between a few sheets of paper towels and press gently to remove extra moisture. This helps the coating stick better.
- Make the Egg Wash
- In a shallow bowl, whisk together eggs, flour, hot sauce, salt, and pepper until smooth.
- Coat the Pickles
- Place the panko breadcrumbs in a separate shallow dish. Dip each pickle into the egg mixture, then roll it in breadcrumbs until fully coated. Arrange coated pickles on a baking sheet while you prepare the rest.
- Air Fry to Perfection
- Preheat your air fryer to 400°F. Place the pickles in a single layer, making sure there’s a little space between each slice. Lightly spray with cooking oil. Air fry for 5–7 minutes, flip, spray again, and cook another 5–7 minutes until golden and crispy.
- Make the Dip
- Combine sour cream, mayonnaise, minced onion, garlic, salt, pepper, and dill in a small bowl. Stir well. Serve alongside your crunchy pickles for dipping.
Notes
- Extra Crunch: Use panko breadcrumbs for a lighter, flakier coating.
- Adjust the Heat: Add more hot sauce to the egg wash or include a pinch of cayenne for extra kick.
- Alternative Pickles: Bread-and-butter or spicy pickles work well for a different flavor profile.
- Storage: Keep leftover pickles in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days. Reheat in the air fryer for 2–3 minutes to restore crispiness.
