This cake is the gooiest chocolate sponge with a rich fudge sauce that magically forms underneath while it bakes. It’s incredibly easy to make and tastes dreamy when served warm with ice cream. The ultimate winter comfort dessert!

Hot Fudge Chocolate Pudding

Ingredients

  • 2 ½ cups self-raising flour
  • ½ cup cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • 1 ½ cups dairy-free milk + 1 tsp vinegar
  • ½ cup dairy-free yogurt
  • ½ cup neutral-flavored oil

For the Sauce

  • ¾ cup light brown sugar
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 6 tbsp cocoa powder

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 340°F.
  • Lightly grease a 9-inch square baking pan.
  • Mix the milk and vinegar together and set aside to thicken.
  • Add the yogurt and oil to the milk mixture.
  • Sift in the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and sugar.
  • Gently mix until just combined.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan.
  • Combine the light brown sugar and cocoa powder for the sauce.
  • Sprinkle the sugar mixture over the cake batter.
  • Pour the boiling water over the top.
  • Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the center is almost set.
  • Let it cool slightly before serving with ice cream. Enjoy!
