Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups steel-cut oats
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup maple syrup*
  • 6 cups unsweetened plain almond milk

Instructions

  • Begin by greasing your slow cooker with nonstick spray. Then, add all ingredients to the slow cooker and whisk until the cocoa powder is mostly dissolved.
  • Cover and cook on high for 2-4 hours, stirring every 30-60 minutes to prevent sticking. Once the oats have absorbed most of the liquid and become chewy, they’re ready.
  • Serve your hot cocoa steel-cut oats topped with mini marshmallows or chocolate chips, and savor the cozy flavors!

Notes

  • Maple syrup: Adjust the sweetness by adding more maple syrup after cooking. Using 1/4 cup will give a dark chocolate taste, so feel free to sweeten to your liking!
  • Due to the potential for sticking, it’s best not to leave this recipe unattended in the slow cooker for long periods, especially overnight.
