  • 60 g cocoa powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • 200 g caster sugar
  • 50 g light brown sugar
  • Zest and juice from one orange
  • 1 tsp orange extract
  • 120 g dairy-free unsalted butter (melted)
  • 140 ml dairy-free milk (almond, soy, or oat)

Preheat and Prepare:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides for easy removal.

Melt Chocolate:

  1. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the dairy-free dark chocolate in 20-30 second increments, stirring after each, until completely smooth. Set aside to cool slightly.

Mix Dry Ingredients:

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the plain flour, cocoa powder, and a pinch of salt.

Mix Wet Ingredients:

  1. In another bowl, mix the caster sugar, light brown sugar, melted dairy-free butter, dairy-free milk, orange zest, orange juice, and orange extract until well combined.

Combine Mixtures:

  1. Add the melted chocolate to the wet ingredients and mix until smooth.
  2. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.

Bake:

  1. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.
  2. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  3. Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack.

Serve:

  1. Once cooled, lift the brownies out of the pan using the parchment paper overhang and cut into squares.
  2. Enjoy these gooey, fudgy, and festive brownies!
  • Dairy-Free Dark Chocolate: Ensure you use high-quality dairy-free dark chocolate for the best flavor.
