Delight in the scrumptious goodness of this banana bread—soft, moist, and a splendid way to make the most of those ripe bananas! We enhance the flavor with our own hazelnut spread and a handful of roasted hazelnuts!

  • 3 ripe medium bananas
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup homemade hazelnut butter or Nutella
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup dark chocolate chunks divided
  • 1/2 cup chopped roasted hazelnuts


  • Heat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Peel those ripe bananas and toss them into a large mixing bowl, then mash them until they’re creamy.
  • In a new bowl, whisk together the melted butter and granulated sugar.
  • Add eggs and vanilla to the same bowl, whisking everything together.
  • Into this bowl, add salt, sour cream, mashed bananas, baking soda, and homemade Nutella, combining all the ingredients.
  • Stir in the flour and fold in 1/2 cup of chocolate chunks and the chopped hazelnuts.
  • Pour this delightful batter into a 9×5 loaf pan and generously top it with the remaining chocolate chunks.
  • Bake for 55-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Allow it to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a cooling rack.
  • Slice it up and relish the goodness!
